Instructions to the Child You Once Were

I was checking out my friend Joanne's page and came across this post. I thought this was great reading, so i decided to REPOST it. :) Thank Joanne!

1. Be nicer to Mommy – she will always have your back no matter what trouble you are in & will always have good intentions. Listen to what she has to say and let it marinate, you’ll realize she was right.

2. Slow down…don’t try to grow up to fast. When it’s your time, it will be YOUR time! Trust me when I say, you’re really not missing out on anything.

3. Stop trying to fit in with the popular crowd; you are your own person.
4. Some of the people you call your “friends” will stab you in the front with the knife from YOUR kitchen as you watch.
5. Trust me when I say, Just when you think you have it bad – someone else has it worse.
6. Be more optimistic about things, there IS a light at the end of every tunnel even if you have to dig a little harder than most. It’ll make you appreciate it more.
7. Try everything and anything at least once, you might actually like it!Stop judging a book by its cover, pick it up, feel it, and read a few pages – you’ll see that appearances mean nothing.
8. Let Daddy talk even if it’s not interesting, he didn’t have the chance to be “Daddy” when he was in the Navy – let him have his time with you.
9. Think before you speak, your words can be hurtful and they can never be taken back.
10. Physical Love does NOT equal the real thing, when you find it you’ll know it!
11. The grass may be greener on the other side, but what will it cost you?
12. Don’t do what everyone else expects or wants you to do; it’ll hold you back from doing what you really want.
13. Don’t be afraid to say what you want to say, even when you feel like their not listening - they hear you.
14. Most times at the end of the day, family is all you have. I hate to break it to ya, but sometimes family ain’t shit.
15. Enjoy every moment of every day and everyone in your life, don’t stop just b/c they stopped – you never really know what’s in your future and you don’t want to have any regrets.
